Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland says he does not expect Australia to play with in Pakistan “in the short term.”
Sutherland was responding to a call in the International Cricket Council for more groups to tour Pakistan, following the current tour of a World XI that is enjoying three Twenty20.
Pakistan have hosted just one tour – a limited-overs show against Zimbabwe in 2015 – because militants attacked the Sri Lanka team bus Lahore in 2009. Australia toured Pakistan in 1998.

Australia are scheduled to play in Pakistan following year but Sutherland on Friday expressed uncertainty that excursion would be possible – “I don’t find in the short term there are any programs for us to play with in Pakistan.”
